Subject: Repairs to the machine shed Report

Dear All,

Over the last week the machine shed (located to the right of the Woolshed) was repaired as per an oc budget.

The entrance to the shed was in a dangerous condition as the timber framework, holding the tin sheeting in place, had completely rotted. This was a danger of sheeting being blown off by the wind or of complete structural failure.

The entire wooden framing has now been replaced and is bolted to the steel uprights. The tin sheeting has been reattached with stronger Tek screws rather than the lead head nails, which were pulling out. Treated structural timber, which will have a lifespan of decades, was used.

As it rained heavily, making Confest roads impassable for a few days, new barn type doors could not be purchased or transported up from Bendigo. A temporary door has been put in place. This will be completed at a later date. Though I now have a better temporary option when I get back on site!

I am satisfied this is now safe. Marty, who is a master builder, seconded this assessment. Nice! He also helped finished the project. So thanks.

However, the long side of the machine shed also needs similar work as the timber ends have also rotted. This a much bigger job but is not urgent. There was enough tricky ladder work as was - so scaffolding might be a safer option.

I also removed a electrical wire to a plug in the machine shed. It was not in conduate and so at several points showed chaffing and hence had become a danger.

That whole area probably needs an electrician to look at it. The wiring is live but was not replaced when the Woolshed was done.

Following instruction from Marty, an earthing cable was temporarily

disconnected and then reconnected.

So far about three days work.

Cheers Craig
